ECHO, Leahy Center for Lake Champlain is a science and nature museum that is a great place for families to explore.
The Church Street Marketplace is worth taking a stroll through as well as window shopping and grabbing a bite to eat. This outdoor mall consists of four blocks of shopping and dining, surrounded by historical buildings.
Red Rocks Park is a 100-acre park where you can enjoy outdoor activities around the year. Hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and beach for swimming.
Shelburne Farms is a 1,400-acre working farm. This educational non-profit is a great place for kids to learn about farms and sustainability. They also have a children’s farmyard with chicken, sheep, cows, turkeys, and goats.
Whistling Man offers unforgettable experiences by taking you on a cruise on Lake Champlain on a sailboat. These cruises are BYO food and drinks so you can have a picnic while enjoying the stunning lake scenery.
Go on a bike ride. Burlington has great scenic bike routes to enjoy by the water. You can’t miss biking on the Lake Champlain Causeway. On the Causeway, you can hop on to the Bike Ferry to get bike access to Champlain Islands. If you don’t have a bike with you, rent one from the Local Motion Trailside Center.
Ben & Jerry’s Waterbury Factory Tour is a 30-minute drive away. Ice cream factory tour will surely cheer anyone up.

When Is the Best Time to Go

Warm seasons are the best time to enjoy Lake Champlain. Alternatively, fall provides beautiful fall foliage. During the winter months, there are ski resorts in the surrounding areas.
