Not only for the skier in the family but for those who can’t get enough of wintertime snow tubing, Blue Mountain Resort is located only 2 hours from Philadelphia and NYC. The biggest vertical jump, the Razor’s Edge, is nearly 3,000 ft. For the less advanced skier, there are 5 terrain parks and 40 trails. Blue Mountain Resort is not only for the winter season, as there are many things to do around the year. Ropes course, mountain biking, laser tag, archery, and scenic lift rides, among other things. If you feel like unplugging for a bit, they have many camping and glamping experiences to choose from.
Camel Back Mountain Ski Resort
Also less than 3 hours away from Philadelphia and New York City so you don’t have to travel far to enjoy a getaway weekend at the Camel Back Mountain. It has something for every season. There are indoor and outdoor waterparks, mountain coaster, ziplining, skiing, snow tubing, and more. It has a great ski school for beginner skiers, 39 trails that are lit up so that you can ski at night, and black and double black slopes that are recommended for the more advanced skier in the family.
Jack Frost and Big Boulder Ski Resort
Located on the eastern side of the Poconos, Jack Frost and Big Boulder Resort has lodging available. Its Snow Monster ski program enables children to learn about chair lifts and the basics of skiing with experienced supervision. Snowboarding is a rewarding adventure for teenagers in the family, and at nearby Split Rock Resort, there are arcades and a movie theater.
Bushkill Falls
Bushkill Falls has 8 waterfalls that lead through Laurel Glen and Upper Canyon, then drop over a 100 ft. cliff to the Main Falls. After a day of hiking and bird watching, you can return to one of many picnic sites for something to eat. Don’t forget to bring along your camera for some great photos.
Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area
Over 30 miles of the Appalachian Trails run through The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area where nature lovers enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming, and fishing.
